April New Moon Solar Eclipse 2024

April's new moon is in Aries today, exact at 1:23 PM CT, with a total solar eclipse in the same sign. A total solar eclipse happens when the moon passes in front of the sun, blocking it out for a few moments. The last total solar eclipse in North America was in 2017, and we won't see another one until 2044.

This solar eclipse will first appear on Mexico's Pacific coast around 11 AM PDT, and the path of totality will cross 15 U.S. states from Texas to Maine, then into Canada. The time varies depending on your location, but southern Illinois will be able to observe it around 2 PM CT. The eclipse will last about 4 minutes, 27 seconds as it travels across each location.

That's it. There's no apocalypse. It's not the end of the world. No need for panic.

As for the new moon in Aries, it is the first new moon of the astrological new year, so it's an opportunity to set intentions for the next month and the next year.

Embrace this new beginning with a written plan that can be adjusted from now until Mercury returns to direct motion later this month. Before acting, first list the practical steps you'll take toward the outcome. Be flexible and willing to shift anything that isn't working. Most importantly, prioritize self-empowerment, especially with your health and wellbeing, taking small steps that will add up to big results over the next six months.

Do what lights you up,
Sadie
