Vine: Muin
The names of the Celtic tree months come from some of the letters of the Ogham. The Ogham is an ancient alphabet believed to have originated in the 4th century (possibly as early as the 1st) in what is now the southwest region of Ireland.
The Celtic month of Vine, July 11 - August 7, is associated with:
Ogham: Muin – (muhn) represents the clan, support system, or community. It is symbolic of harvest, fruits of labor, gratitude, celebration, and abundance. It also correlates with prophecy and sacred birth.
The energy of Muin is prophetic intuition from a deep inner knowing. It is also related to the modern letter "T," and a T-square type tool used by the ancient Greeks to cultivate grapevines. It is believed that this cross tool later became a Roman crucifixion structure, although the story of a deity's sacrifice, death, and rebirth or resurrection have been found in nearly every ancient mythology or religion, long before Christianity.
Consider Muin's connection to the grapevine as a sturdy support and as a tool for cultivation. It simply asks us to be open to our intuition and to accept help as we're growing. If you've been feeling disconnected or isolated in this post-pandemic time period, as many of us have been feeling, perhaps it is time to reconnect. Join a local charitable group that volunteers in your community. Open your home and your heart to new friends. Meet up with people who enjoy the same hobby or share the similar interests. We grow stronger when we're supported and when we're supporting others.
Do what lights you up,
Sadie
Please note: Some people start the tree calendar with Birch in January, which follows the solar calendar. However, I learned them in an older tradition, which aligns with the 13-month lunar calendar. It's up to you to discern what feels right for you, of course.
