Celtic Tree Months

By S.F. Skyheart - January 23, 2024

For 2024, I’ve decided to include posts about the Celtic Tree calendar. If you’ve read my book, The Accidental Witch (The Recollection of Trees book 1), you know I feel a special connection with trees.

Please note: Some people start the tree calendar with Birch in January, which follows the solar calendar. However, I learned them in an older tradition, which aligns with the 13-month lunar calendar. It's up to you to discern what feels right for you, of course.

The Celtic Tree calendar:

Birch (Beith) November 1-28
Rowan (Luis) November 29-December 26
Yew (Ioho) Eve before Winter Solstice
Silver Fir (Ailim) Day after Winter Solstice
Alder (Fearn) December 27-January 23
Willow (Saille) January 24-February 20
Ash (Nuin) February 21-March 20
Gorse (Ohn) Day of Gorse, day before Spring Equinox
Hawthorn (Huathe) March 21-April 17
Oak (Duir) April 18-May 15
Holly (Tinne) May 16-June 12
Hazel (Coll) June 13-July 10 (same as Apple)
Apple (Quert) June 13- July 10 (same as Hazel)
Heather (Ur) Day before Summer Solstice
Vine (Muin) July 11-August 7
Ivy (Gort) August 8-September 4
Reed (Ngetal) September 5-October 2 (same as Blackthorn)
Blackthorn (Straif) September 5-October 2 (same as Reed)
Aspen (Eadha) Day before Autumnal Equinox
Elder (Ruis) October 3-30
The Grove (The Koad, The Day, Samhain) October 31

Each of the trees correlates with a rune, ogham, element, crystal or stone, animal, deities, holidays, and other symbols. (I'll share these in separate posts throughout each month.)

I'll come back to this post after each month is posted to add the link.

Do what lights you up,
Sadie
