Heather: Ur

Heather: Ur

The names of the Celtic tree months come from some of the letters of the Ogham. The Ogham is an ancient alphabet believed to have originated in the 4th century (possibly as early as the 1st) in what is now the southwest region of Ireland.

The Celtic day of Heather, the day before the summer solstice, is associated with:

Ogham: Ur, Ura – ("oor" or "oorrah") symbolizes the gateway between the physical world and the spiritual realm. It can be found in older writings as a portal marking, representing contact with faeries, spirits, and guides. It is also used as a powerful healing symbol, calling on divine connection to aid in opening oneself to be willing to receive abundance, love, and radiant health.

Just as Heather is purported to clear the way for good fortune, health, and longevity, so does Ur. It is a beautiful symbol to draw in a sacred space such as a meditation or energy healing room.

Do what lights you up,
Sadie

Please note: Some people start the tree calendar with Birch in January, which follows the solar calendar. However, I learned them in an older tradition, which aligns with the 13-month lunar calendar. It's up to you to discern what feels right for you, of course.
