Oak: Bull

Each of the Celtic trees correlates with an animal symbol. The Celtic month of Oak, April 18 - May 15, is associated with:

Animal: Bull

According to Celtic mythology, bull embodies strength and abundant good fortune. They are gentle, calm, and cooperative most of the time, but experience moodiness and stubbornness. You cannot push a cow (Bull) if it doesn't want to move. Sometimes, if they're provoked, they'll charge ahead and leave a path of destruction and mayhem in their wake. This may be the origin of two popular sayings about bulls:

1. He charged like a bull in a china shop.
2. If you mess with the bull, you get the horns.

This may be your sign to speak up if you're not feeling reciprocation from a person or situation in which you're dedicated and committed.

The shadow side of that is letting go of stubbornness and inflexibility when it comes to personal relationships (life partners and family especially) and shared spaces (office, kitchen, bathroom, etc).

It can also sometimes signal a time to seek expert help with depression if you've been stuck for awhile. It shows real inner strength and courage to ask for help and to receive the help. Sometimes the hardest part is in the receiving, especially for those of us who learned at a young age to "just do it myself." It is not weak to accept help.

If you're starting something new, be sure to seek professional expertise and remain flexible to changes in plans, especially if traveling to a new place or starting a new project/business. If the something new is a committed relationship (romantic, parenthood, or business), discuss openly and clearly each person's needs, boundaries, wants, and expectations. Be especially diligent to discuss financial aspects of this new situation and keep communication lines open.
