Ash: Coral

Ash: Coral

Each of the Celtic trees correlates with a crystal or stone. The Celtic month of Ash, February 21 - March 20, is associated with:

Coral

Corals are neither crystal nor stone, rather, they are a colonial marine invertebrate. Worldwide, coral reefs are under stress due to pollution, overfishing, coral mining, sea temperature rise, sea level rise, ocean acidification, and more. Many governments prohibit removal of coral from reefs. (Please do not go deep sea diving and break the laws by harming protected coral. This is meant for bits of coral found in metaphysical shops or handed down from a friend.)

Coral represents diplomacy and quiets the emotions to bring peace within the self. It magnifies intuition, imagination, mystic qualities, creative visualization, and mediumship. It vibrates to the number 22.

Some types of coral still found in rock shops and their attributes:

agatized coral: (a type of fossil coral) familial harmony, grace in loss and grief, imagination, helps with releasing control and going with the flow, seeing "within imperfection, there is perfection."

black coral: absorbs and transforms negativity when worn, carried, or placed nearby. It inspires creative endeavors, dispels fear of darkness, brings hidden matters to light for healing and growth, transmutes "imposter syndrome." Vibrates to the number 33.

blue coral: activates and energizes the throat chakra, clears navel chakra, illuminates third eye, enhances psychic awareness, improves communication, eases business relationships. Vibrates to the number 8.

fossil coral: calms disruptive thoughts, a feeling of calm and inner peace, good for potentially stressful meetings especially in business or legal matters, protection for travel on or near the water, helps boost motivation yet give a sense of being grounded and centered.

Petoskey stone: (a type of fossil coral) stimulates third eye and intuitive levels of inner self, helps with psychic awareness, promotes emotional intelligence, discourages infections, protects against mischievous spirits, aids in actualization of creative endeavors.

pink coral: represents structure, continuity, and construction. It stimulates sensitivity and empathy toward others' emotions, activates the heart chakra, enhances intuitive aspects of love, connects with "oneness" consciousness. Vibrates to the number 9.

red coral: (dyed) protection, perseverance, tranquility, transformation, transmutes stagnant patterns, helps release unhealthy or outgrown thoughts, emotions, and habits. Activates the root chakra, protects against depression and despondency. Vibrates to the number 4.

white coral: opens and clears the crown chakra, aligns the chakras with the energies of the ethereal plane and dissipates energy blockages in the physical body. Stimulates clairvoyance and mediumship. Vibrates to the number 6.

If you're feeling drawn to coral, it may be a need to clear some stagnant or heavy emotional energy or a deeper calling to heighten psychic abilities. Growing up in Michigan, I have some fond memories searching the beach for Petoskey stones, which always felt kind of mystical even as a child.

Do what lights you up,
Sadie

Please note: Some people start the tree calendar with Birch in January, which follows the solar calendar. However, I learned them in an older tradition, which aligns with the 13-month lunar calendar. It's up to you to discern what feels right for you, of course.
